Softball Recap: Benton Central Takes a Loss

Benton Central couldn't beat Rensselaer Central on Wednesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the third inning. The Bison fell 10-6 to the Bombers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bombers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-4 back in April.

Benton Central has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Rensselaer Central, their win bumped their record up to 8-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Benton Central will host Lafayette Jefferson at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bronchos have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.47 runs per game on average), something the Bison will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Rensselaer Central, they will welcome North Judson-San Pierre at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Bluejays have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.18 runs per game on average), something the Bombers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
