Softball Game Preview: Augusta Southeastern Suns vs. Quincy Notre Dame Raiders

Augusta Southeastern hasn't had much luck against Quincy Notre Dame recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. Augusta Southeastern will venture away from home to take on Quincy Notre Dame at 4:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Augusta Southeastern is headed into Thursday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They came up short against Pittsfield, falling 24-7.

Meanwhile, Quincy Notre Dame fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Rochester on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Rockets by a score of 6-5. The Raiders haven't had much luck with the Rockets recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Caitlin Bunte was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over 7.2 innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Bunte was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Madalyn Boyer made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Having lost for the first time this season, Quincy Notre Dame fell to 2-1. As for Augusta Southeastern, their record is now 0-2.

Augusta Southeastern might still be hurting after the 8-0 loss they got from Quincy Notre Dame in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can Augusta Southeastern avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
