Softball Recap: Viera Triumphs

Viera was handed a 12-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Saturday. They skirted past the Keystone Heights Indians 4-3. The Hawks have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Indians, too.

Shea Young tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Viera saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gracen Baker, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Caroline Nelson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Viera is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. As for Keystone Heights, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-9.

Looking ahead, Viera will venture away from home to square off against Rockledge at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Keystone Heights, they will host Trinity Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
