Baseball Recap: Columbia Comes Up Short

After flying high against Mattamuskeet last Tuesday, Columbia came back down to earth. The Wildcats lost 15-5 to the Cape Hatteras Hurricanes on Monday. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hurricanes apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Columbia has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Cape Hatteras, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season.

Columbia will square off against Bear Grass Charter at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats will need to watch out since the Bears have now posted at least ten runs in their last eight games. As for Cape Hatteras, they will challenge Eastern Christian HomeSchool at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Trailblazers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Hurricanes' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
