Basketball Recap: Ninety Six Comes Up Short

Ninety Six was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 69-53 bruising from the Pelion Panthers. While the Wildcats didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Panthers 16-9 in the first quarter.

Pelion's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zyan Davis led the charge by going 6 for 13 on his way to 19 points in addition to seven boards and six assists. Davis has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 12 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Kolton Rogers, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Ninety Six's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Pelion, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-2.

Ninety Six won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Dixie at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Pelion, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Pelion Panthers challenge the Saluda Tigers at 7:45 p.m. on Friday.
