Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Port Allen). They blew past the North Iberville Bears 24-3 on Wednesday. Considering the Pelicans have won 16 games by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Joseph Jourdan was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Jourdan was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Port Allen is undefeated when Jourdan posts two or more runs, but 8-9 otherwise.
In other batting news, Port Allen got a massive performance out of Hunter Bodin, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Bodin a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Dickinson, who scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Port Allen always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .659. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Iberville only posted an OBP of .462.
Port Allen's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 16-9. As for North Iberville, they dropped their record down to 0-9-1 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.
Looking ahead, Port Allen will host St. Helena College and Career Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for North Iberville, they will head out to take on Ascension Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
