Basketball Game Preview: Canyon Ridge Riverhawks vs. Madison Bobcats

The Canyon Ridge Riverhawks will head out on the road to challenge the Madison Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Having struggled with five losses in a row, Canyon Ridge turned things around against Jerome on Saturday. They took down the Tigers 66-50.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Canyon Ridge to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mason Hill, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. Hill is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last seven games he's played. Kade McEntire was another key player, going 5 of 9 on his way to 14 points and five rebounds.

Canyon Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Meanwhile, Madison waltzed into their game on Monday with 11 straight wins... but they left with 12. They came out on top against the Titans by a score of 65-57. Given the Bobcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while the Titans are ranked 40th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Madison's victory was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.5 points per game. As for Canyon Ridge, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-11.

Canyon Ridge lost to Madison on the road by a decisive 62-43 margin when the teams last played on January 9th. Can Canyon Ridge avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
