Basketball Game Preview: Strath Haven Panthers vs. Marple Newtown Fightin' Tigers

Strath Haven hasn't had much luck against Marple Newtown recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Strath Haven Panthers will venture away from home to take on the Marple Newtown Fightin' Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Strath Haven will be strutting in after a win while Marple Newtown will be coming in after a loss.

Marple Newtown will be up against a hot Strath Haven squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Strath Haven snuck past Harriton with a 36-31 victory on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Marple Newtown suffered their closest defeat since December 27, 2024 on Saturday. They fell just short of Penncrest by a score of 68-65. While losing is never fun, the Fightin' Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 149th, while the Lions are ranked 24th).

Marple Newtown has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-7 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.3 points per game. As for Strath Haven, their win bumped their record up to 10-11.
