Rim of the World is headed into Monday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Saturday. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 12-10 heartbreaker at the hands of Arroyo Valley. Even if the Fighting Scots couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

John Phillips and Jake Ristow did some serious damage despite the final result: Phillips went 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Ristow went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Rim of the World is 2-1 when Ristow posts two or more runs, but 3-13 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Tatum Ortiz, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Fontana had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 5-1 win over Arroyo Valley on Friday.
Fernando Padilla spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Andres Osegeura was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. Oscar Martinez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Fontana kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Arroyo Valley only managed five hits.
Rim of the World's defeat dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Fontana, their victory bumped their record up to 6-17.
Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Rim of the World hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. However, it's not like Fontana struggles in that department as they've averaged .322. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Rim of the World skirted past Fontana 12-11 in their previous meeting back in April. Will the Fighting Scots repeat their success, or do the Steelers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
