Baseball Recap: Marshall Beats Paris for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Marshall let Paris stack four runs on them in the sixth inning on Thursday but luckily Marshall prevailed anyway. The Lions won by a run and slipped past the Tigers 7-6. That's two games straight that the Lions have won by just one run.

Payton McGuire was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Marshall, bringing their record up to 6-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Paris, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marshall will square off against South Vermillion at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season. As for Paris, they will challenge North Central at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
