Holmes and SouthWest Edgecombe squared off in some playoff action  on Tuesday, but Holmes had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Cougars by a score of  7-6. The Aces' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
 Maddox Bass was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he  struck out eight batters over  seven innings while giving up  four earned  (and two unearned) runs off   five  hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't  tossed less than five  strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate,  going 1-for-3 with two  runs and one  stolen base.
 In other batting news,  Daniel Hare made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and  went 1-for-3 with one  stolen base, two  RBI,  and one  run. He has been hot, having  posted  at least one  stolen base the last five times he's  played.
Holmes' defeat dropped their record down to 19-6. As for SouthWest Edgecombe,  the  victory made it two in a row for them and  bumps their season record up to 15-7.
 Holmes does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for SouthWest Edgecombe, they will face off against St. Pauls at 7:00  p.m.  on Thursday.
