Softball Recap: Taylorville Takes a Loss

Taylorville's last matchup with Mahomet-Seymour could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Monday. The Tornadoes lost 18-2 to the Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-7 on Monday.

Taylorville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kyleigh Heimsness, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Taylorville has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-14-1 record this season. As for Mahomet-Seymour, they pushed their record up to 8-11 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Taylorville will take on Sullivan at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tornadoes' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Redskins have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season. As for Mahomet-Seymour, they will head out on the road to take on Normal Community at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Ironmen will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight.
