It was fun while it lasted, but Winthrop College Prep Academy's undefeated season came to an end after four games on Monday. They took a 12-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bell Creek Academy Panthers. Having soared to a lofty 41 points in the game before, the Spartans couldn't push the score so high this time.

Despite the loss, Winthrop College Prep Academy saw an underclassman step up: freshman Maya Degreenia rushed for 64 yards and one touchdown. Degreenia also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making five total tackles and defending one pass.

Having lost for the first time this season, Winthrop College Prep Academy fell to 4-1. As for Bell Creek Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-4.

Looking ahead, Winthrop College Prep Academy is taking a road trip to square off against Booker at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Winthrop College Prep Academy's defense has only allowed 3.6 points per game this season, so Booker's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Bell Creek Academy, they will square off against Lakewood Ranch Preparatory Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
