River Valley suffers 13th straight loss on the road

Recap: River Valley Dust Devils vs. Madison Highland Prep Heat

The River Valley Dust Devils's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight loss. The game between River Valley and Madison Highland Prep wasn't particularly close, with River Valley falling 46-30. River Valley has not had much luck with Madison Highland Prep recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

River Valley lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kierra Clay, who scored four points along with 11 steals and six rebounds. Those 11 steals set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Veronica Galvez, who scored ten points along with four steals.

Even though they lost, River Valley were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Madison Highland Prep's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tom Barbosa, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. Barbosa is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Elyse Tallbas, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and three steals.

River Valley bumped their record down to 1-6 with that loss, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 17.6 points per game. As for Madison Highland Prep, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

River Valley will be playing in front of their home fans against American Leadership Academy - West Foothills at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Madison Highland Prep, they will head out on the road to face off against Willcox at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
