Basketball Recap: Tantasqua Regional Comes Up Short

If Tantasqua Regional was riding high fresh off their 60-23 takedown of Quaboag Regional last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Tantasqua Regional Warriors took a 59-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Holyoke Purple Knights on Wednesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Warriors of the 57-47 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.

It was another big night for Aiden Cabrera, who went 7-for-15 en route to 19 points and four steals for Holyoke. With that strong performance, Cabrera is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. Another player making a difference was Chauncey Ruiz, who posted ten points and eight rebounds.

Tantasqua Regional's loss dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Holyoke, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-3.

Tantasqua Regional has already played their next game, a 54-51 defeat against Nipmuc Regional on the 15th. As for Holyoke, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Chicopee Comp at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Chicopee Comp's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 12 matchups.
