Basketball Game Preview: Wootton Patriots vs. Magruder Colonels + How To Watch

For the first time this season, Wootton will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will be playing at home against the Magruder Colonels at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.

Wootton is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight games dating back to last season on Friday. They took a 52-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Poolesville.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Chase Mitchell, who posted 12 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Chase Winokur, who scored eight points.

Meanwhile, Magruder had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They pulled ahead with a 61-60 photo finish over Kennedy. The victory continues a trend for the Colonels in their matchups with the Cavaliers: they've now won four in a row.

Wootton couldn't quite get it done against Magruder in their previous meeting back in December of 2024 as they fell 67-56. Thankfully for the Patriots, Wil Dabbondanza (who shot 46% from the field on his way to 20 points along with five rebounds and three blocks) won't be suiting up this time.
