It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Lakota West ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past the Badin Rams 8-7. For the Firebirds, this counts as revenge for the 4-3 win the Rams walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Lakota West has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Badin, their loss ended a 13-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 21-5.

Lakota West and Badin should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Firebirds (ranked 58th) will meet Talawanda (ranked 409th) at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Lakota West's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while the Brave have been banged up by nine consecutive losses on the road. Meanwhile, Badin will face off against Hamilton at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday with a big rank advantage (6 vs. 249).
