Baseball Recap: Whiteland Starts Season with Win Against Columbus East

Whiteland had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Columbus East Olympians on Tuesday. The Warriors have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Olympians, too.

Blake Riddle was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Blake Lyle, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Whiteland will take on Scottsburg at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Columbus East, they will head out to face off against Corydon Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
