Basketball Recap: Don Soffer Aventura Takes a Loss

Don Soffer Aventura lost against Immaculata-La Salle back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Don Soffer Aventura Barracuda were beaten by the Immaculata-La Salle Royal Lions 54-10. While losing is never fun, the Barracuda can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 553rd, while the Royal Lions are ranked 224th).

Don Soffer Aventura got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Liana Kozko and Angelina Gonzalez, who each put up four points.

Immaculata-La Salle's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alexandra Gonzalez Casar led the charge by dropping a double-double on 15 points and 11 boards. The matchup was Gonzalez Casar's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Candy Cruz, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.

Don Soffer Aventura has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Immaculata-La Salle, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.

Don Soffer Aventura will take on Sheridan Hills Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sheridan Hills Christian's defense has only allowed 26 points per game this season, so Don Soffer Aventura's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Immaculata-La Salle, they will head out on the road to challenge Divine Savior Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
