Baseball Game Preview: Brunswick School Bruins vs. King Vikings

Brunswick School is a perfect 7-0 against King since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Bruins will face off against the Vikings at 4:30 p.m. Brunswick School will be strutting in after a win while King will be coming in after a defeat.

Brunswick School is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They walked away with a 10-7 victory over Hopkins on Thursday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bruins considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

Johnny Gally looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He is becoming a predictor of Brunswick School's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 2-1 (and 2-3 when he doesn't).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Michael Marini, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3. Those runs were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Wim Nook, who scored a run while going 2-for-5.

Brunswick School kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hopkins only managed five hits.

Meanwhile, King was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. Luke's.

King's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Brunswick School, the win got them back to even at 4-4.

Brunswick School came out on top in a nail-biter against King when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bruins since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
