Basketball Recap: Bernie Comes Up Short

If Bernie was riding high fresh off their 77-16 takedown of Holcomb last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bernie Mules took a 62-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hayti Indians on Tuesday. The Mules were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Indians apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.

Bernie's loss dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Hayti, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-1.

Looking ahead, Bernie will host Campbell at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Bernie is facing Campbell at the right time seeing as Campbell is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Hayti, they will head out on the road to take on Richland at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Hayti's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
