Volleyball Recap: Saturday's Loss Ends Lakeland's Winning Streak

Lakeland and Hillcrest squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Lakeland had to settle for second. They lost 3-0 to the Knights. The Hawks' defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Jolie Warren paced Lakeland's offense, picking up eight kills. Warren got some help from Jaeli Hoffman and her 11 assists. Emma Beaty controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Ali Maddux had an outrageously good game for Hillcrest as she had 23 digs and five assists. That's the most assists Maddux has posted over her last six contests. Cambri Rencher also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Lakeland's loss dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Hillcrest, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 28-6.

Coincidentally, Lakeland and Hillcrest will both be playing Shelley the next time they take the court. The Hawks will head out to face the Russets at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Knights will play them later in the day, at 4:00 p.m.
