The Waxahachie Indians will head out on the road to face off against the DeSoto Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Waxahachie is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 64.8 points per game this season.

Last Tuesday, Waxahachie didn't have quite enough to beat Duncanville and fell 66-64. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while the Panthers and Pantherettes are ranked 14th).

Despite the defeat, Waxahachie got top-tier performance from Trae Nunn, who almost dropped a double-double with 23 points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Gatewood, who posted 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, Waxahachie smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in nine consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, DeSoto had just enough and edged Mesquite out 43-41 on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Skeeters: they've now won three in a row.

Waxahachie has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 16-14 record this season. As for DeSoto, their record is now 20-11.

Waxahachie couldn't quite finish off DeSoto in their previous meeting back in January and fell 60-57. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of DeSoto's Kayden Johnson, who went 9-for-13 to rack up 27 points. Now that Waxahachie knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
