Basketball Recap: Council Grove Triumphs

Council Grove won the last time they faced Marion, and Brycen Palmquist did his part to make sure it happened again. The Council Grove Braves were the clear victor by a 66-44 margin over the Marion Warriors on Friday thanks in part to Palmquist, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 rebounds. The match was his fourth in a row with at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Reid Buttrey, who posted ten points. Those ten points gave him a new career-high.

Council Grove's victory bumped their record up to 10-4. As for Marion, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-9.

Council Grove and Marion could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings. Council Grove will take on Rock Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday down 63 places (93 vs. 30). Similarly, Marion (ranked 257th) will meet Remington (ranked 67th) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
