Baseball Recap: Ponderosa Comes Up Short

Ponderosa was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Vista del Lago Eagles. That's two games in a row now that the Bruins have lost by exactly two runs.

Ponderosa got a good showing from Kyle Thomas, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Thomas has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ponderosa saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was CJ Perin, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Ponderosa's loss dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Vista del Lago, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.

Ponderosa will be taking part in a tournament against Del Campo at 10:00 a.m. on Monday. As for Vista del Lago, they will challenge University Prep at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season.
