Baseball Recap: Chiefland Gets the Win

While Chiefland's win against Fort White wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Chiefland sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over Fort White on Thursday. That's more bragging rights for Chiefland, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Hunter Boyd tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Chiefland is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-4 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Trey Meeks, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Chiefland hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fort White struck out six times.

Chiefland now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Fort White, they dropped their record down to 7-4 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Chiefland will be playing in front of their home fans against Dixie County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Chiefland is facing Dixie County at the right time seeing as Dixie County is stuck on a four-game losing streak. Fort White will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Ocala Christian at 6:00 p.m. on March 24th.
