Basketball Recap: Columbia River Makes It Ten in a Row at Home

Columbia River came tearing into Monday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36.5 points), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Black Hills Wolves with a sharp 62-41 win. The Rapids have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Wolves, too.

Black Hills' defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyler Venable, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten boards. That was a full 43.9% of Black Hills' points, marking the third time in a row Venable has posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Buchanan, who scored 11 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Columbia River's victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.2 points over those games. As for Black Hills, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-8.

Looking ahead, Columbia River will be playing at home against WF West at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in WF West's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven games. As for Black Hills, they will head out on the road to take on Ridgefield at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Black Hills is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53 points per game this season.
