Preview: Smithton Tigers vs. Tipton Cardinals
The Smithton Tigers will head out on the road to challenge the Tipton Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Smithton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings (they are ranked 385th, while Tipton is ranked 163rd).
Last Thursday, Smithton came up short against Green Ridge and fell 60-53. Smithton has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Tipton scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Otterville 82-54 at home. Tipton pushed the score to 65-42 by the end of the third, a deficit Otterville had little chance of recovering from.
Jackson Bailey continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 24 points along with four steals. He hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Zach Moon, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.
Smithton has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season. As for Tipton, they pushed their record up to 15-7 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home.
Smithton was taken down by Tipton 79-47 in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can Smithton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
