Baseball Recap: Marshall Comes Up Short

Marshall's last matchup with Effingham could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Tuesday. Marshall came up short against Effingham, falling 13-1. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Lions couldn't push the score so high this time.

Marshall saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Garrett Pugh, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Marshall's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Effingham, their victory was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-2.

When Marshall and Effingham next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Marshall will try to stop Mattoon's three-game winning streak when they meet at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Effingham will challenge Altamont and their four-game winning streak at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
