Preview: NCSSM: Durham Unicorns vs. Northeast Guilford Rams
Having just played yesterday, the NCSSM: Durham Unicorns will get right back to it and host the Northeast Guilford Rams at 7:00 p.m. on January 17th. Hopefully NCSSM: Durham focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, NCSSM: Durham was able to grind out a solid win over Research Triangle, taking the game 54-44.
Ethann Burkett continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 26 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Arthur Zhao was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Meanwhile, Northeast Guilford's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 86-57 loss at the hands of Carlisle. The match was up for grabs at halftime, but sadly Northeast Guilford struggled afterwards.
Despite the loss, Northeast Guilford got a solid performance out of Dennis Fountain, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Alijah White, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
NCSSM: Durham's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Northeast Guilford, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.
Wednesday's contest is shaping up to be a scrappy game: NCSSM: Durham have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 32.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Northeast Guilford struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 25.9 rebounds per game.
