Baseball Recap: Espanola Valley Takes a Loss

Espanola Valley extended their losing streak to four on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 4-14 in the process. They came up short against the Moriarty Pintos, falling 13-3. The Sundevils were not able to make up for their loss to the Pintos from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Espanola Valley saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayden Archuleta, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

As for Moriarty, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-10. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their one-run performance the game before.

On Moriarty's side, Scott Batie looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Batie also tossed a walk, which is notable because the Pintos are 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-9 otherwise.

At the plate, Moriarty got a massive performance out of Micah Kamplain, who went 2-for-3 with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave Kamplain a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Evan Pacheco, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Moriarty beat Espanola Valley by a score of 9-2 later that day.
