Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Robert Knotts and Tyrie Pressley Lead College Prep & Leadership Academy to Victory

College Prep & Leadership Academy won the last time they faced Piedmont Classical and things went their way on Friday too. The College Prep & Leadership Academy Royals enjoyed a cozy 72-55 win over the Piedmont Classical Bobcats. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Royals.

College Prep & Leadership Academy was led to victory by Tyrie Pressley and Robert Knotts. Pressley dropped a triple-double on 23 points, ten boards, and ten blocks, while Knotts dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten assists. The matchup was Knotts' third in a row with at least ten points. Bryce Mckenzie was another key player, putting up nine points.

Despite the defeat, Piedmont Classical saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Bryson Motley went 7 of 10 on his way to 19 points and seven steals. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for Motley. The team also got some help courtesy of La'Trel Smith, who posted seven points along with seven assists and three steals.

College Prep & Leadership Academy's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Piedmont Classical, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-4.

College Prep & Leadership Academy will face off against Triad Math and Science Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in College Prep & Leadership Academy's favor as the team sits on six straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Triad Math and Science Academy has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. As for Piedmont Classical, they will challenge Bethany Community at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Piedmont Classical is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.6 points per game this season.
