Jaguars first-round draft pick returns to Orlando-area alma mater.

Blake Bortles is a Central Florida guy through and through.

He attended Oviedo High School (Fla.) outside of Orlando, where he threw for 2,221 yards and 27 touchdowns as a 6-foot-4, 230-pound senior.

Most schools recruited him to play tight end, but the University of Central Florida was willing to give him a shot behind center. As a junior last season, he led UCF to a magical run that culminated in an upset over Baylor in the Fiesta Bowl.

The Jaguars selected Bortles with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. On Friday night, he returned to his alma mater to have his No. 9 jersey retired.
