Recap: Sandia Prep Sundevils vs. Albuquerque Academy Chargers
After flying high against the Legacy Academy Silverbacks last Tuesday, the Sandia Prep Sundevils came back down to earth. Sandia Prep ended up on the wrong side of a tough 56-32 walloping at the hands of Albuquerque Academy on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Sandia Prep has suffered yet this season.
Sandia Prep's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emily Cook, who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Maddy Weisler, who scored 12 points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Albuquerque Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Noelani Montoya, who scored 16 points. Cara Anderson was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Sandia Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Albuquerque Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 9-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sandia Prep will take on Socorro at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Albuquerque Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Valley at 7:00 p.m.
