Baseball Recap: Heritage Christian Academy's Losing Streak Snapped at Eight Games

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Heritage Christian Academy ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Crittenden County Rockets 9-8. The victory was some much needed relief for the Warriors as it spelled an end to their eight-game losing streak.

Ethan Miles was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cadyn Travis, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Heritage Christian Academy's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 2-13 when he doesn't). Tycen Wells was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Heritage Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 4-14. As for Crittenden County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 15 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season.

Heritage Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Crittenden County, they will square off against Ballard Memorial at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
