Basketball Recap: West St. John Takes a Loss

West St. John lost against Ascension Catholic back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The West St. John Rams fell 61-49 to the Ascension Catholic Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 297th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 141st).

Despite the loss, West St. John still got an impressive performance from Naheim Gastearl, who posted 17 points. Ashton Barnes was another key player, putting up nine points.

West St. John has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season. As for Ascension Catholic, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 23-9.

Coming up, West St. John will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Jefferson RISE Charter at 6:00 p.m. Ascension Catholic has already played their next contest (against St. James), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
