Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Ellia Anderson and Shae King Lead Gunnison Valley to Victory

Gunnison Valley was handed a three-set defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Maeser Prep Academy Lions, sneaking past 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bulldogs have posted since October 19, 2024.

Gunnison Valley wouldn't go down easily and took Maeser Prep Academy into a fifth set where they got it done with a seven-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 17-25, 25-16, 16-25, 25-18, 15-8.

Leading Gunnison Valley to victory were Shae King and Ellia Anderson. King had nine digs and three assists, while Anderson had 18 kills, nine digs, four aces, and one block. Those three assists gave King a new career-high.

Gunnison Valley's record is now 2-3. As for Maeser Prep Academy, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.

Coming up, Gunnison Valley will venture away from home to face off against Piute at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs are facing the Thunderbirds at the right time seeing as the Thunderbirds are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Maeser Prep Academy, they will welcome Draper APA at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
