Center is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Saturday. They came up short against Sanford, falling 34-19.
Caden Ruggles was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles. Those doubles were his first of the season. Ivan Guaderrama was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.
Even though they lost, Center always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, La Veta got the win against Sanford on Friday by a conclusive 10-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Redhawks.
Logan Tenorio made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). Tenorio was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, Logan Cortez was excellent, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Lukas Ozzello, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Center's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for La Veta, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Center has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like La Veta struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
