Basketball Game Preview: Richlands Blue Tornado vs. Virginia High Bearcats

The Richlands Blue Tornado are taking a road trip to challenge the Virginia High Bearcats at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. Richlands has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with four straight defeats, while Virginia High will come in with 12 straight victories.

Last Wednesday, Richlands took a blow against Lebanon, falling 73-45.

Meanwhile, Virginia High was able to grind out a solid win over John Battle on Wednesday, taking the game 71-60. Given the Bearcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while the Trojans are ranked 281st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Virginia High pushed their record up to 16-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 28.7 points. As for Richlands, their loss dropped their record down to 6-11.

Richlands ended up a good deal behind Virginia High when the teams last played back in January, losing 74-56. Can Richlands avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
