Basketball Recap: Seven Straight Road Wins for North Charleston

North Charleston proved they can win big last Monday (they won by 23) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the James Island Trojans, sneaking past 38-36. The 38-point effort marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Richard Hazel III continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, putting up 12 points along with seven boards and six steals. Robert Porcher was another key player, posting six points.

North Charleston smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in ten consecutive contests.

North Charleston's victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-5. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.4 points per game. As for James Island, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-6.

North Charleston wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 68-40 win against Burke on the 4th. As for James Island, they will venture away from home to take on Lucy Beckham at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lucy Beckham will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something James Island surely won't give up without a fight.
