Baseball Game Preview: Whiteland Warriors vs. Franklin Community Grizzly Cubs

The Whiteland Warriors will venture away from home to challenge the Franklin Community Grizzly Cubs at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

On Monday, Whiteland didn't have quite enough to beat New Palestine and fell 4-3.

Peyton Dickens was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times he's played. Maalik Perkins also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Valparaiso hit Franklin Community with a eight-run first inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Grizzly Cubs fell 10-7 to the Vikings. The Grizzly Cubs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Carsten Bland and Landen Basey stepped up to the plate in a big way. Bland went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run, while Basey went 3-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Whiteland's record is now 5-3. As for Franklin Community, their record now sits at 5-4.

Whiteland couldn't quite finish off Franklin Community in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 16-14. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
