Softball Recap: Avon Victorious

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Avon had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-9 win over the Brownsburg Bulldogs. The victory continues a trend for the Orioles in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won eight in a row.

The team relied heavily on Olivia Yeary, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lylah DeArmond, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two doubles.

Avon hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in eight consecutive games.

Avon's win bumped their record up to 11-17. As for Brownsburg, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 18-10 record.

Avon wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 1-0 defeat against Center Grove on the 3rd. Brownsburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
