Softball Recap: Chestnut Ridge Comes Up Short

Chestnut Ridge entered their game against Tyrone on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Lions fell just short of the Golden Eagles by a score of 2-1. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Golden Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

This is the second loss in a row for Chestnut Ridge and nudges their season record down to 7-4. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Tyrone, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chestnut Ridge will challenge Westmont Hilltop at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Lions 2.5, the Hilltoppers 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Tyrone, they will face off against Hollidaysburg at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
