Basketball Recap: Axtell Find Success

Axtell was handed a 34-point defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Southern Raiders 51-49. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since January 19, 2024.

Several Raiders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alex Meece, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Meece is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Cooper Warford, who posted 21 points and eight rebounds.

Axtell's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Southern, they now have a losing record at 3-4.

Axtell didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 99-52 win against Washington County on the 3rd. As for Southern, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 58-43 victory against Weeping Water on the 2nd.
