Basketball Recap: Ouray Trojans vs. Cheyenne Wells Tigers

Ouray and Cheyenne Wells squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Ouray had to settle for second. They had to suffer through a 62-22 loss at the hands of the Cheyenne Wells Tigers. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Trojans have suffered since December 20, 2024.

Several Trojans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cavan Pasek, who posted seven points and five boards. What's more, Pasek posted two steals, the most he's had since back in January.

Corey Hill was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 20 points and 15 rebounds for Cheyenne Wells. Hill has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more boards the last 50 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Trey Scheler, who went 5-for-7 to rack up 10 points along with six rebounds and four steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Ouray and nudges their season record down to 12-12. As for Cheyenne Wells, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season.

Ouray does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cheyenne Wells, they have already played their next game, a 46-28 victory against Evangel Christian Academy on the 8th.
