Baseball Recap: Austin Takes a Loss

Austin had lost 11 straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 10-25 to make it 12. They lost 12-2 to the Florence Falcons. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Black Bears have suffered against the Falcons since April 21, 2022.

As for Florence, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 16-21. They not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since March 11th (when they won 17-5).

For Florence's part, Cooper Thomaston was a standout: he got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases Thomaston has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Preston Solomon, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

While Austin had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
