Recap: Aynor Blue Jackets vs. Dillon Wildcats
The Aynor Blue Jackets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their seventh straight loss. They were beaten by Dillon 64-30. While losing is never fun, Aynor can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 276th, while Dillon is ranked 105th).
Aynor's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Robinson Mendez, who scored ten points along with two blocks. Austin Tanyika was another key contributor, scoring no points along with five steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Dillon to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zamaurious Robertson, who scored 13 points along with six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamarion Fling, who scored eight points along with six steals.
Aynor has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season. As for Dillon, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Aynor will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Waccamaw at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. Hopefully Waccamaw focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Wednesday. As for Dillon, they will head out on the road to take on Red Springs at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Red Springs focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Friday.
