Baseball Recap: Wauconda Triumphs

Wauconda won the last time they faced Lakes and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Bulldogs walked away with a 6-1 win over the Eagles. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Patrick Shannon tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits. Wauconda is 2-1 when Shannon allows one or fewer earned runs, but 3-4 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jackson Rudolph, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3. He has become a key player for Wauconda: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Luke Sickmeir, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

The victory got Wauconda back to even at 5-5. As for Lakes, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.

Wauconda will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Eagles: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
