Basketball Game Preview: Hesston Swathers vs. Belle Plaine Dragons

The Hesston Swathers will face off against the Belle Plaine Dragons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Hesston's favor as the squad sits on five straight wins at home while Belle Plaine has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.

If Belle Plaine heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Hesston took over last week. Hesston strolled past Great Bend with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 54-40.

Meanwhile, Belle Plaine had to suffer through a 66-33 loss at the hands of Garden Plain. While losing is never fun, the Dragons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 317th in Kansas, while the Owls are ranked 123rd in Kansas).

Despite the defeat, Belle Plaine saw an underclassman step up: freshman Brooks Mcginnis posted 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristan Wasser, who put up eight points.

Belle Plaine's loss dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Hesston, their victory bumped their record up to 18-2.
