Softball Recap: Benet Academy Triumphs

While Benet Academy's victory against Marian Catholic wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Redwings had just enough and edged out the Spartans 1-0 on Saturday. The Redwings haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

The result came thanks to Sophia Rosner's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Gianna Cunningham, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double was her first of the season.

Benet Academy's victory bumped their record up to 5-10. As for Marian Catholic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-8.

Looking ahead, Benet Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Carmel at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Redwings are facing the Corsairs at the right time seeing as the Corsairs are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Marian Catholic, they are taking a road trip to square off against Joliet Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
